About the role:

Reporting to the CFO, the Financial Controller is responsible for leading and mentoring the Finance & Accounting Teams across the three divisions of Corporate, Trust and Property Accounting.

Playing a vital role with an emphasis on delivering strategic corporate services and meeting business, divisional and individual objectives across all the portfolio, the Financial Controller will monitor and have oversight of operations from commercial and financial perspective working in conjunction with the Executive Team.

This is a broad ranging role with areas of responsibility including finance, legal, compliance and risk management. The role will work closely with all stakeholders to understand the direction of the Company and areas of importance.
  
Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the CFO in enhancing financial systems and processes
  • Lead the Finance & Accounting team across Corporate, Trust, and Property divisions
  • Manage team planning, structure, and resourcing
  • Review financial reports and provide insightful commentary
  • Prepare finance updates for board reports and investment trusts
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting
  • Approve payments, distributions, and Capex submissions
  • Review reconciliations, performance fees, and unit calculations
  • Ensure compliance with ASIC, AFSL, and registered scheme requirements
  • Liaise with external auditors and manage audit and tax processes
  • Drive continuous improvement across finance operations and systems

The Skills and Experience required for this role:

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting and/or Commerce;
  • CPA or CA qualified with 10+ years’ post-qualification experience
  • Sound understanding of trust accounting, asset management, and corporate finance is beneficial
  • Extensive experience across Corporate, Trust, and Property Accounting
  • Strong knowledge of BAS, tax returns, and financial statement preparation
  • Experience in the property funds industry is highly regarded
